Year 1 completed. Time for a cuppa.

So I've finally done it! Passed year 1 of CIM Professional Marketing degree course, with distinction may I add!

The Chartered Institute of Marketing is the largest professional body and is widely recognised within the marketing industry. If you've passed these exams, you basically know your s**t!

With the first module being described as very traditional and official 'Principles of Marketing', I thought the day was going to be long. However, I soon realised how important it was to understand the foundations of marketing and how it's evolved. Considering how fast online marketing constantly changes these days - the same marketing principles still exist. Can you believe the "Marketing Mix' was first coined by Neil Robson over 60 years ago? Marketers are still using this model on a day-to-day basis but the delivery and execution of marketing is completely different.

The course has allowed me to fill in the gaps in my knowledge of traditional marketing and theories. It has also helped to extend my online knowledge and improve my understanding of how critical customer experience is to a business, both online and offline.

With year 1 done and dusted, I'm looking forward to tackling a more statistical approach by looking at the best ways to measure online campaigns and optimise digital strategies (sounds very posh doesn't it!).

So, after spending most of 2015 with my head in a textbook, I'm now keen to put what I've learnt into practice and can't wait to see what 2016 brings! Oh, and I mustn't forget to give a massive shout-out to Strawberry! Couldn't have done it without your support :-)
