Tell us a bit about your background…
I’ve been a bit of a geek (and proud!) since forever. I was lucky enough to have computers in the house from an early age which gave me a bit of a head start.
I earned my degree from the University of Lincoln in 2014. It’s all been go from there, really.
What are your first impressions of Strawberry?
What really stood out to me was the level of organisation, practicality, and transparency in the way the team approaches a task. It’s not what I was used to – in a good way – but it is everything I’d been looking and hoping for.
What drew you to your job / this industry?
Since I was young I’ve flip-flopped from wanting to be a police officer, a firefighter, a soldier, James Bond (not just a spy – actually James Bond), a writer, a psychologist, butcher, baker, candlest- … you know how it goes.
It came to a point where I felt like I ought to make some sort of a decision, so I chose web development. I’d had an interest since I was about 13 and got my start making template websites for online video gaming communities. Remember, I said I was a geek! 🤓
Whilst web and software development is wildly different from foiling evil villains in exotic volcano lairs, it’s definitely not been boring and has led to some really cool opportunities.
Tell us a fun fact about yourself
I’m a stage actor, and used to teach drama. Amongst many other exciting roles, my worst (or best, depending on your perspective) was Bert in Mary Poppins.
I’m no triple threat. Maybe one-and-a-half threat at a push. I can’t even dance… whose idea was it to give me that part?
Let’s introduce you to another member of the Strawberry team… meet our wordsmith, Eve!
