Tell us a bit about your background…
I’m a Hull native who has worked in the creative industry for 12 years. Not sure what I wanted to do post university, I was serendipitously offered a short-term role at an amazing local creative agency just a few weeks after leaving.
What started as a 1-month temporary role turned into 5 great years that took me from Hull to London, via some wonderful months working in Seattle, all the while helping a variety of global retail and consumer brands bring their brands to life. In London, I spread my wings a little further - working at 2 more global branding and design agencies, keeping my feet firmly in the world of consumer branding and packaging.
After London life started wearing a little thin, I returned to the north and enjoyed 3 years at a leading Leeds creative agency. As part of a team working with a consumer healthcare giant, we helped to guide their visual identity and brand experiences.
Now back in Hull with a set of 10-month old twin boys to contend with, I’m so excited to bring my experience to Strawberry - and to learn more from the incredible team here!
What were your first impressions of Strawberry?
That this is a place where ‘stuff’ gets done! The dedication of the team to see every brief through to completion at truly incredible rates is so inspiring and exciting to be around.
What drew you to your job/this industry?
As a naive 21 year old who had no idea that the creative industry even existed, what drew me most was the casual dress code! However, what started as an appreciation for being able to wear my jeans to work every day very quickly grew into a true love for being part of the process that turns creative ideas into stunning reality. From my very first day of agency life, I knew that this was all I’d ever want to do.
Upon returning to Hull, it was never a question in my mind that I wanted to work anywhere other than Strawberry. I’m so excited to get stuck into my new role!
Go on. Tell us a fun fact about yourself.
I’m an avid reader and try to get through a new book at least every two weeks. My ultimate favourite though is Harry Potter and I collect different languages, covers and editions of Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone. If you spot a weird cover or - dare to dream - a first edition anywhere, let me know!
